Despite the current economic challenges, Daewoo Engineering & Construction is striving to meet its social responsibilities.

President & CEO Jong-Wook Seo and employees of Daewoo Engineering & Construction visited the Home of Peace in Gusan-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, on April 16, 2009, where they performed Love Sharing services for the disabled.

Over 50 members of the volunteer service club, which consists of executives and employees of Daewoo Engineering and Construction, including President Seo, played and took walks with the disabled, as well as preparing them snacks. The team also delivered a donation of KRW 10 million.

The Home of Peace, a city-operated social welfare center, is a shelter for men aged 18 or over who are critically disabled. Currently, the center accommodates over 180 disabled men.

Daewoo Engineering & Construction has been engaged in its Love Sharing Campaign to support the isolated and the disabled since 2007. The company plans to perform Love Sharing activities on a quarterly basis by visiting Holt Ilsan Center and the Home of Peace.

Daewoo Engineering & Construction fulfills its corporate social responsibilities by making social contributions in diverse sectors, including social welfare, culture and the arts, academia, sports, the environment, and international affairs. Most notably, the company recently expanded its volunteer service organization, which was founded in January 2005, to the corporate scale. Currently, every executive and employee of the company is engaged in social services, and the company has developed and implemented key social contribution programs focusing on infrastructure improvement for the isolated classes.

Since 2007, the company has operated the Beautiful Playground Campaign as its key social contribution effort, renovating playgrounds in needy areas or at welfare centers. The campaign aims to prevent safety accidents at playgrounds, and create a clean and safe play environment for children from low-income families. Employees participate in the Love Coin Donation Campaign to help needy neighbors, donating amounts less than KRW 1,000 from their salaries every month. In addition, the company plans to continuously perform social contribution activities, through the Love Sharing Campaign for local community services and the Life Saving Campaign for blood donations.
